I hope all of you are having a fabulous Thanksgiving! I am definitely full of turkey, stuffing, and green bean casserole! (Mostly green bean casserole... because that is my FAVORITE!) I love being surrounded by my family. And this post has a little bit -Ok...EVERYTHING- to do with one of them in particular.
Many photographers say "I've had a passion for photography since I was young." And yes, I have... but I want to tell you why...
This camera right here is the whole reason I am a photographer. Well, the camera and the man behind it. My Grandpa carried this camera around everywhere we went. He was always taking pictures and always telling the story of our family. My grandma has album after album of photographs of my family interacting with one another and having an amazing time. It was so very rare that he posed us, so very rare that he would say 'Ok look here and say "Cheese!"' I really think it's because of him that I have the style I do, I prefer to capture people interacting than to pose them.
I was Grandpa's 'fishing buddy'. (I don't know why I'm crying in this photo... because I LOVED fishing!) So many of my memories with Grandpa were fishing ones. I still try to out as often as I can, but I've definitely found that ice fishing is my favorite. I love being in the warm fish house with the wood stove going... the wood crackling... oh I love it.
Grandpa has always been one who spends so much time with me. He loves being involved in our lives, and he loves to make sure that that time is captured on film ;)
This last week my grandpa gave me that camera. I was SOOOO excited and thankful! I hope to capture as many memories and moments with it in my hands as it did in my Grandpa's hands.
I love you Grandpa, and you are the reason I am where I am with this photography business. Thank you!
