Proposal: Lewis & Lexy

I got to be a part of one of the most exciting things yesterday... photograph a PROPOSAL!!!

This post will be a little different than others, as I'm going to tell the story and post photos as I tell it. Just to warn you... there is a lot of story! So here goes:

Lexy and I went to high school together, and we have always had a bit of a connection. We were never super close, but after about 7 years of us saying "When I come home from college let's get together!" and "Now that we live 45 minutes away from each other we have no excuse!" we FINALLY got together about a month ago and had such a wonderful time! We just connected. Lexy is one of the sweetest and most kind-hearted woman you could possibly meet.

Anyways, back to the story: Lexy and I had talked about how we'd like to get together before Joel and I head out on our big road trip in the end of the month. So, when Lewis contacted me to see if I could help him get this together and then photograph it, I knew it'd be a simple set up. Between lots of texts and ideas, we finally got a plan set in motion.

So, I contacted Lexy and we set up our girl's day for yesterday (Saturday). I picked her up from her apartment and told her I had a weird ritual where I get my nails done before I go on a trip - which is actually true! - and she just went along with it. So we got our nails done!

After we left the mall I told her that I needed to scope out a spot for a photo shoot for a client. I took her to the spot that Lewis had sent me on Google Maps (this was after going to the WRONG place and Lewis saying I was no where near him... oops). And when we arrived Lexy said "Oh! Lewis and I have gone fishing here and we like to go on walks and stuff, its so beautiful here!"

I then proceeded to take some "test shots" using Lexy as my model, and this is how it all went from there...

Lexy thought that this man who was on a bike that had passed us had come back... so she was thinking he was just standing there awkwardly and decided to ignore him... until he touched her... then she realized it was her Lew.

I cannot express how truly happy I am for these two. They are perfect for each other. They are so in love! I hope you can see that in these photos! I cannot help but smile the entire time I look at these!

Love Story: Tim & Tiffany

Tim & Tiffany are getting married in October of this year, and we are SO excited to be telling their {Love Story}! We had so much fun galavanting around the Dunton Locks area here in Detroit Lakes, and then we headed out to a local farm to snap some photos of the two of them around some farm machinery! It was wonderful to have the fresh fallen snow to make everything so nice and white, and the temperature was perfect!

These two share such a sweet love, and they are two of the most genuinely nice people you could possibly meet. The session felt more like just hanging out with friends then anything else, and those are my favorite kind of sessions!

Confessions of a Photographer: Tiny Tasks

Well, something VERY exciting happened for me today... We've made our office official on the building's directory!

This was a big deal for me! And the craziest thing is... how long it took me to do it.

The year of 2013 has already been unlike any other year we've had here at Jennifer Christi Photography. Granted, we officially turned 3 in March, but still.

Let me explain:

Every February-April I've been able to really focus on the business; revamp our product descriptions, rework our pricing, do any and all "improvements" that need to be done to our business.

This year was different.

My plan was to do all of the things mentioned above, and I have a whole list to prove it. 'Add photos to the website' ... 'create new brochure for weddings' ... and 'get in the habit of blogging' and more are all on this list.

But instead... I had more opportunities to do my favorite part... TELL STORIES! We were so blessed to have a much busier early spring. But this kind of threw off my 'groove' you might say. And because of this, I realized that MANY things got put on the back burner.

This blog would be the perfect example. I was SO proud of myself for how good I was being, how well I was keeping up, but when I got just a little too busy I backed off and let it be.

Why?

Because it's a 'tiny task'.

You all know what 'tiny tasks' are. Those things that'll only take a little bit. Those list items that you can wait on just a bit longer because it'll be so fast and easy to do once you sit down to it.

The questions is; WHEN WILL YOU SIT DOWN TO IT?

Finally getting our name on the directory literally took me 3 minutes. It felt SO GOOD TO DO. After I did it I really started thinking about everything else I've got on that list.

My challenge to you today, is to start doing at least ONE 'tiny task' a day, if not more. I am amazed at how good it feels to check those things off; the things that are just so minuscule, so tiny, so easy. And most of the time, they really do take only minutes.

That's all Loves,
Jenny

Love Story: Scott & Natasha

We met up with Scott & Natasha at the Lodge in Detroit Lakes to begin capturing their love story. They're getting married in March and we are so excited for that!

Scott and Natasha are so adorable together. Natasha has a smile on her face all the time, and Scott couldn't stop smiling at her smile. We ventured around the city of DL taking photos and talking about their upcoming wedding day.

We finished the session up at La Barista where the two of them shared something they really enjoy together; hot cocoa.
